Dr. Zhiyuan Mao
Postdoctoral Researcher, University of California, Los Angeles
Dr. Zhiyuan Mao is a postdoctoral researcher co-mentored by Dr. John K. Lee and Dr. Owen N. Witte at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is a cancer immunologist whose work bridges cancer biology, bioengineering, computation, and biophysics. Dr. Mao’s research focuses on studying tumor–T cell interactions and developing novel immunotherapies for prostate cancer. By revealing the hidden rules that govern how T cells recognize cancer cells, his work could guide the design of more effective, personalized immunotherapies for patients with currently treatment-resistant cancers. Dr. Mao is the recipient of the Prostate Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award and the Cancer Research Institute–Irvington Postdoctoral Fellowship.
